DIY Lip scrub

My lips become extremely chapped over the winter no matter how much chap stick  I put on. I hate the way I look in pictures and I hate having to reapply chap stick after every meal or every couple of hours. Finally, I decided to make my own lip scrub to get rid of all the dead skin and moisturize my lips better.

I used this extremely simple recipe that I found on Pinterest. All it is is: olive oil, honey, and brown sugar.

Take the ingredients and mix them together, the ratio of the olive oil to the honey is pretty similar, maybe the size of your pinky nail(it all depends on how much you want to make). Then add enough brown sugar to fully absorb the mixed liquids.

The mixture should look like this when finished. Then, apply to your lips and rub your lips together. The brown sugar should absorb into your skin and your lips should be left feeling baby soft and tasting sweet!

My lips already feel so much better and the scrub literally took 5 minutes to make and apply. As much as I love brand products I love how easy this was and how I can make more when I need it!

Lipstick List

Up until recently I was not super into lipstick, then I bought one, then another and another, and now I have a whole collection! Lipstick can amp up any outfit and change an entire vibe. Your lips are something everyone sees, so why not dress them up with a fantastic color? I just bought a new color as I mentioned in here but I figured instead of just writing about one of my lipsticks, I’d write about them all!

From left to right

  1. Matte Suede by Clinique

I got this color in one of Clinique’s free-bee bags and was slightly appalled when I first tried it on. I am a very pale person so this made me look a little sickly. I did a little experimenting though and found that if I mixed it with “Moxie” (#3) I could get a cool ombre lip.

2. Flashy by Tarte

I got this color as part of an entire kit with mascara, and eye shadow pallets. It’s really sweet and light and adds just enough color for an everyday look.

3. Moxie by Bare Minerals

I love this color so so much. I wear it to school, to temple, and on nights out. It’s a go-to color because it’s neutral enough to go with anything but adds major attitude to any outfit.

4. Teak Rose by Revlon

I got this color as a gift and I wasn’t too sure if I would like it at first. It’s a little coral, a little brick, and definitely  not something I would have picked out for myself, but it’s an exciting color that I love experimenting looks with.

5. Hey gurrl by Too Faced

My latest addition to my collection which I am totally obsessed with. It is extremely bright and vibrant, and my only complete matte lipstick. It is a little drying, but with a basic chapstick as a base it goes on super smooth and full.

6. Raspberry Glace by Clinique

This is the first lipstick I ever owned and I’m still pretty into it. It’s pretty girly seeing as though its pink and sparkly but I like how classy it is.

7. Basically Berry by Ulta

Probably one of the colors I wear the most, as well as being the boldest tube I own. It doesn’t look super dark on my arm, but on my lips it really stands out and is super plum. I love how bold it is and it adds a sort of edgy vibe to my look.

Sephora Haul

So anyone who knows me (Sarah can attest to this) I am addicted to Sephora, and really makeup in general.  It’s such a bad addiction so I have to steer clear of that store in the mall. Over the last month or so I have some new additions to my growing makeup collection.

In very exciting news I completed my Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow collection!

Anyways back to the haul:

I recently purchased Tarte’s new Rainforest of the Sea Wipeout Color Correcting Palette.  Color correcting is a trend that has been on the rise for some time now and I decided to give it a try.  With my new beauty blender I applied a layer of foundation first followed by the green, orange, and yellow colors to different areas of my face.  Instead of buying the brush that is recommended with the palette I used by fingers to apply the colors.  I was very happy with the finishes result because it gave me an even finish and I was able to easily define the contours in my face without turning orange.

So for the past few years I have relied on using liquid liners which works most of the time but I tear up a lot so the liner gets smudged.  I decided to splurge a little bit and buy Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Waterproof Creme Color.  I was really unsure of which brush to use for the eyeliner because I have very small eyes.

My eyebrows pretty much suck and the natural shape is practically nonexistent.  I received a sample of this product last year and it worked really well.  I also purchased the brush that goes along with this palette.  How I use this product: I take the brush and go through my brows to even them out.  Then I take the darker shade on the right and outline my desired shape.  I use the lighter shade on the left to fill in the rest of my brow. This is from Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyebrow Powder

I’ve been obsessed with Prada’s Candy scent for a long time now and I decided that the rollerball size was perfect for me because I can bring anywhere with me.  It has a great scent and the rollerball gives me the perfect amount so the scent isn’t overbearing

Clinique is probably one of my favorite brands.  The formulas they use work so well for me.  I had heart great things about their new lip balm and sugar lip scrub.  So far I’ve used the lip balm but have yet to try the scrub.

Until next time!
