Spring brings a whole bunch of opportunities to go outside and try new stuff. One of my favorite things is to just sit out and relax with friends, this often includes food and snacks. Starbucks is one of the largest coffee brands in the world and takes advantage of the spring weather to create new funky drinks.
Chocolate with mint is my absolute favorite combination so naturally I was PUMPED when I heard about the Thin Mint frappucino. There was a bit of a whipped cream overload but I could definitely taste both the mint and the chocolate.
The secret Starbucks menu has so many cool options for drinks and I really want to try a bunch out. I was a little worried about having to ask barristas to make me specialty drinks, but my friend who works at Starbucks said that as long as you’re respectful and there isn’t a huge line, any barrista would be happy to help out.
The other weekend Sarah and I went to some local parks and took some pictures to celebrate Spring and the warm weather. We looked for flowers and good lighting to make the pictures more interesting and we each chose 2 outfits. It’s still early in spring so we didn’t get as much nature in the shots as we originally wanted, but I think the pictures still turned out really well!
Shirt: Mudd at Kohl’s
Shirt: American Eagle
Jeans: American Eagle
Dress: cotton on
We took tons more and I love all of them but this post would be about 10 pages long if I posted all the pictures so I figured it was best to just show off my favorites.
Sophia Amoruso became one of my biggest inspirations about 3 years ago when I first read her book #Girlboss. I absolutely loved the book and was so inspired by her lifestyle and rise to power through the internet. The book was filled with life and business tips, gave an extremely real view on life. Now, Netflix has created a series based on the book (and therefor Sophia’s life) and so far I really like it!
The show starts later in Sophia’s life than the book so I feel it might have left out some of her history, but I’m really hoping that in the coming episodes they address her past more. I think Britt Robertson is really great as Sophia and really captures the driven energy I felt when reading the book. I’ve never been to San Francisco but the show shot the city beautifully and shows how much inspiration can be found in one city. I’m only on episode 5 but I’m really excited to keep watching and see Sophia’s life played out in another way.
Here’s a fun review of the show (with no spoilers!)
My first fashion show was a success! The event was held at a beautiful venue called Macoluso’s near my town, and it benefited a senior class event. Anyone in my senior class could participate and could choose from categories of sportswear, semi formal, and formal. I decided to make my dress and had an absolute blast!
I based my dress from a Tshirt dress pattern I already had, but I cut the panels individually and sewed the dress in pieces. The top purple section is actually made from an old curtain, and the bottom blue part is a piece of my junior prom dress. My blocking was inspired by the famous Yves Saint Laurent ’60s. I really loved how simple the shape was, but how cool and modern the blocking was.
My dress! Thanks to my fabulous photographer and friend Anna for these beautiful pictures.
The other day after I washed a pullover sweatshirt in the wash, I found that the string that pulled the hood closed had come out of the hood. This happens constantly for me whether it be the string of a sweatshirt, a ribbon through the waist of pants, or cording through a bag. Getting the string/ribbon etc. back into its casing is super easy and fast, and totally something everyone should know how to do.
The hack is simple, all you need is a safety pin! Simply attach the pin to the piece of cording, using the pin to lead the cording through the “tunnel” in the fabric. The motion is a repetitive scrunching that should be smooth due to the safety pin. Once you get all the way through the “tunnel” of fabric, un-clip the pin, and you’re done!
Hello all! Life has been pretty crazy lately and I’ve lost a lot of my free time, but hopefully things will calm down soon. I also happen to be really bad at managing my time so even though I have tons of blog post ideas and about 4 unfinished drafts, none of my ideas are actually getting out. Anyway, here’s what’s been going on!
I turned 18! Woohoo! With my legal adult status, I did the one thing I have been wanting to do since I was 13, I got my nose pierced. I am so happy with the results and have gotten so many compliments! I went to a place called Pleasurable Piercings which is right near me and was extremely happy with the whole process. The people were great and super helpful, I was in and out in 30 min.
In other news, the Pacsun in the mall by me was having a blue sticker sale where everything with a blue sticker was 70% off. The 2 shirts, cardigan, and bralette cost a total of $50. The magazine Allure randomly started coming to my house and I’m not really sure why, but I’m not complaining! The style and beaut tips are awesome plus I happen to be a major magazine hoarder. A present I received from a friend is that pink book you see entitled “The diary of a young lady of fashion of the 2017”. It’s a little planner/journal that gives me space to write about my day and plan things out on paper. I have always wanted to start journaling but have never had the motivation so this cute little book was the perfect push I needed. Lastly, I received what has now become my obsession; my Nalgene. Nalgene’s are the superior water bottle over all other water bottles, no questions asked. They are incredibly durable, practical, and cool looking and don’t make your water taste like the inside of a bottle.
And so my friends, those are the few things that have been happening, hopefully I’ll be back on my blogging game soon!
The holiday season is upon us! My entire feed is filled with Christmas wishlists, Christmas swearers, and Christmas trees so I decided to change it up a little. When was younger my school would have holiday assemblies where we could wear Santa hats and would sing jingle bells. I didn’t own a Santa hat and there was nothing Hanukkah themed for me to wear so I often felt a little left out. Finally, people are including Hanukkah in their holiday spirits and now Hanukkah themed clothes surround us! There is some really cute stuff out there and I can’t wait to buy it all!
Tipsy Elves is the funniest, coolest website for Hanukkah sweaters. They’re funny and fuzzy, and a great price!
Etsy is another great site for Hanukkah sweaters and Hanukkah themed clothes. I actually bought this one from here and my only warning is to buy way in advance because sometimes the shipping takes forever. Other than that, I love this sweater and I’ve gotten so many compliments on it.
