The wonder product

There are so many products out there for your hair and your face and your skin. Each product is filled with tons of chemicals, and while most are healthy, they can also cause allergic reactions or just not mesh well with your body.

My favorite product, also happens to be the most commonly found things in drug stores, Vaseline! I started out just using it for my lips, but I soon realized how beneficial it is for the rest of your face as well.

Vaseline is 100% petroleum jelly, a moisturizing, non-comedogenic substance. This means it heals your chapped skin without clogging your pores.

Uses:

Chapped lips, slide it on like lip balm when you go to sleep or even put it on top of your lipstick to add moisture and shine

Eyelashes: use you finger or a clean mascara wand to apply a thin layer to your lashes. It makes your lashes thicker, fuller, and stronger. Just be gentle when you take it off and be sure not to put any vaseline directly into your eyes.

Acne: dab vaseline onto existing zits and on acne scars and blemishes. The moisturizing quality of the petroleum jelly allows skin to heal faster and acts as a guard on your skin so more dirt and oil can’t get into the zit.

Remove makeup: I would not recommend using vaseline as your main makeup remover. I usually use it to take off eye makeup if I forget to take it off before I shower or if I accidentally sleep with makeup on. Lightly spread vaseline over the already loosened/smudged makeup and wipe it away with a washcloth or tissue.

There are so many other uses for vaseline, these are just the ones I personally have tried.

A new product

My schedule is super hectic lately so I’m looking for every product out there that will save time and give me the best results. Lately I’ve been testing out different pad products to see how they result. So far I’ve been pretty happy with what I’ve found.

Makeup remover pads: For a while I used liquid on a cotton ball, then I moved to wipes, but now I’ve gone on to eye makeup remover pads. These Neutrogena pads are so soft and work so well. As much as I liked the other products I used, they left my face feeling greasy and sometimes I felt like i still had makeup on. These pads wipe everything off really easily. Each pad is really soft and thick, there doesn’t even seem to be that much product on it but my makeup comes off really well. This is easily my new favorite makeup remover product and they’re really cheap too!

Acne pads: I’ve talked about these Oxy pads before, but I’ll keep talking about them because they continue to work! My skin has been super greasy lately and I’ve been getting more acne than usual, but these Oxy pads leave me feeling really clean. I use them as soon as I get home from school and right before I go to bed (after I use face wash) so the product really has time to work on my skin. Though they have a ton of alcohol in them and can burn if your skin is too dry, my pores are way tighter and my skin is less oily after I use them.

Nail polish remover pads: I’ve just started using these from Ulta and find that they’re good, not great. Though they claim to take color off all 10 fingers, this is only true for lighter colors. Since spring is coming I’ve been putting on lighter colors and these pads work pretty well. I have a habit of spilling nail polish whenever I use it, so using these pre-made pads is a safer bet for me haha.

Oil blotting pads: These things are literally my life saver. As I said before, my face has been getting really oily lately, but I don’t like washing my face in the middle of the day because the I ruin my makeup. These Clean & Clear pads are so easy and help me be way more confident.

The latest haul

Black Friday scares me a little so I decided to pass on it and go shopping on Saturday. There were still tons of sales and I’m super excited about what I bought.

Grey cardigan: I bought this from Mandee, a store with not the greatest quality clothing but they are going out of business so I figured I should take a look. The whole store was 40-60% off so the cardigan was only $20.00! The cardi is super comfy and I can wear it with a bunch of different outfits.

Black suede ankle boots: I have been wanting a pair of boots like these for so long so when I saw these on sale in DSW I had to buy them. The heel is the perfect height that I an dress them up or down and the inside has a nice insole so they’re pretty comfy.

Clinique “take the day off” makeup wipes: Have I ever mentioned how much i love Clinique? I think I have 1…maybe 5 times. Anyway I bought these wipes and they’re super great. They were only $15.00, have 50 wipes, and work really well.

Nordstrom Fall Beauty Trend Show

This year I was invited to go to Nordstrom’s annual fall beauty trend show. I was so excited to be apart of such a cool event as a Nordstrom teen fashion ambassador with my friend. The event advertised Nordstrom’s latest beauty products, which were displayed on a great runway with awesome spokespeople and models. I loved all the products they introduced and added a bunch of items to my quickly growing Hanukkah list!

One of the coolest parts of the event was how many raffle items there were. Unfortunately I didn’t win any, but it was really cool seeing people get free perfumes, hairdryers, makeup, and other beauty products.

Our first stop was to obsess over the new MAC holiday line Nutcracker Sweet. The packaging was so cute and eye-catching, I wanted all of it! The coolest product was their new Spellbinder eyeshadow. I don’t get how it works but even though it’s loose powder, it doesn’t have any fall out! It is also the most pigmented shadow I’ve ever seen.

We headed over to the Deborah Lippmann counter and I was drawn to this electric, shimmery pink color 12th street rag. It was honestly the coolest color I’ve ever seen and I immediately put it on my wishlist. At the nail painting stand, I got the color After Midnight, it’s a super deep navy that totally set me in a cold weather mood.

Finally we headed over to the DryBar booth where we got our hair blown out to perfection. The brand was trying out their new product the 3-Day Bender with a whole bunch of their dry shampoos, anti-friz, and texturizing products. I loved the tool and my hair looked great after I got it done. Unfortunately though the tool advertises as having curls for 3 days, mine lasted for 1. This could just be my hair, or maybe I did’t put enough hairspray in, but I was a little disappointed in it.

The whole event was super cool and I loved getting beauty tricks from all the brands there!

Liquid Matte Lipstick

Happy November readers!!

One of my favorite party looks is accentuating my lips.  There are so many different kinds of lip products to experiment with: gloss, liner, plump, stain, lipstick, and more.

Over the past year or so a new lip trend has been on the rise, liquid matte lipstick: an all day stay lipstick full of color that doesn’t smudge.  Any makeup lover’s dream!

Many people know this trend through Kylie Jenner’s lip kits, which are incredibly difficult to get your hands on.  The set includes a lip liner and the tube of lipstick.  I’ve never tried this line of liquid matte but I’ve heard mixed reviews

My go to for any makeup product is the holy grail of cosmetic stores, Sephora *insert heart eyes emoji*

A good 75% of the products I own are from Sephora, which just goes to show the high end quality products they sell in stores and online.

During a recent trip to the mall with my blogging bestie we had to hit up Sephora of course.  Like all other Sephora’s this one had a beauty bar, where they offer 15 minute services.  I’ve always wanted to try it but never had the opportunity too.  When I met with a consultant I asked for a liquid matte lipstick because I was curious as to what they were like.  I didn’t love the color I chose but I decided to be bold and pick a different color to buy.  I ended up chosing Baci by Stila, the first makeup brand I was ever introduced too.

A couple of weeks after my latest purchase I had the opportunity to put this product to use.  I had a family wedding out on Long Island and I figured this was the perfect time to take the liquid lipstick for a test run.  I usually tend to use lip colors in the pink family and I would describe Baci as a dusty pink color.

For the wedding I wore a heavily beaded navy dress, with gold and silver beads.  For the rest of my makeup look I wore my own version of a gold Smokey eye (minus the black on the outer corners of my eyes) something I don’t wear often, since I usually opt for silver tones over gold ones.  And then for the finishing touch I applied Baci.

One thing to note about applying liquid lipstick, it goes into every crevice in your lips.  Mine had been fairly dry lately so mine were a little cracked, and that showed with the lipstick.  Other than that I would definitely rate this product a 4.5 out of 5.  It went on smoothly and lasted from 11:30 until 5:30 after a day of eating and drinking, which definitely does not happen if you wear a regular lipstick.  My lips did feel a little dry but after fulling removing my makeup and using Clinique’s sugar scrub my lips felt rejuvenated.

Overall, I would 100% recommend liquid matte lipsticks to anyone.  It’s a good accent for a bold look, and while pink tones work for me maybe browns, or reds work for someone else.  If you’re looking for your perfect fall lip color, check out Elle’s story http://www.elle.com/beauty/a39561/fall-lipstick-for-your-skin-tone/

Lipstick List

Up until recently I was not super into lipstick, then I bought one, then another and another, and now I have a whole collection! Lipstick can amp up any outfit and change an entire vibe. Your lips are something everyone sees, so why not dress them up with a fantastic color? I just bought a new color as I mentioned in here but I figured instead of just writing about one of my lipsticks, I’d write about them all!

From left to right

  1. Matte Suede by Clinique

I got this color in one of Clinique’s free-bee bags and was slightly appalled when I first tried it on. I am a very pale person so this made me look a little sickly. I did a little experimenting though and found that if I mixed it with “Moxie” (#3) I could get a cool ombre lip.

2. Flashy by Tarte

I got this color as part of an entire kit with mascara, and eye shadow pallets. It’s really sweet and light and adds just enough color for an everyday look.

3. Moxie by Bare Minerals

I love this color so so much. I wear it to school, to temple, and on nights out. It’s a go-to color because it’s neutral enough to go with anything but adds major attitude to any outfit.

4. Teak Rose by Revlon

I got this color as a gift and I wasn’t too sure if I would like it at first. It’s a little coral, a little brick, and definitely  not something I would have picked out for myself, but it’s an exciting color that I love experimenting looks with.

5. Hey gurrl by Too Faced

My latest addition to my collection which I am totally obsessed with. It is extremely bright and vibrant, and my only complete matte lipstick. It is a little drying, but with a basic chapstick as a base it goes on super smooth and full.

6. Raspberry Glace by Clinique

This is the first lipstick I ever owned and I’m still pretty into it. It’s pretty girly seeing as though its pink and sparkly but I like how classy it is.

7. Basically Berry by Ulta

Probably one of the colors I wear the most, as well as being the boldest tube I own. It doesn’t look super dark on my arm, but on my lips it really stands out and is super plum. I love how bold it is and it adds a sort of edgy vibe to my look.

(another) Ulta haul

First I would like to apologize for not being active, I have been in such a blogging rut and had nothing to write about. Luckily, Ulta was having another sale, giving me a new opporitunity to try new products!

Tarte “lights, camera, lashes” was marked down 50% so I snagged 2 for the price of one. This is my favorite mascara that i’ve used for a while, I’ll be doing a review on it soon! I really love the packaging and the size is totally worth it, it lasts me forever.

I also grabbed the  Too Faced “la Matte” in “Hey gurrl” I have never used a Too Faced product before but I’ve heard tons of good reviews on the brand. I don’t have any lipstick colors like this so I’m excited to try this one out. I love the packaging for the lipstick, it is so pretty and elegant. I think I’ll do a lipstick post soon and include a full review on this one.
