Lots of school’s have off this week or the week following for Spring break. Though of course everyone wants to have that perfect tropical crazy spring break week, that is not the realistic case for most teens. Despite this, you can still have tons of fun! Here are some ideas on how to spend your week off.

Throw a party

It doesn’t have to be for anything, it can just be for fun! If you or one of your friends has a big backward, set it up with balloons, tables of food, and games. Order in from your favorite restaurant, have everyone bring food like a potluck, or even set tables up like a buffet. The options for food are endless. Make a theme and have everyone dress up or just make it casual. Your party should be about having fun with your friends and spending your spring break with people who make you happy.

Do a project

Whether its  painting, filming a movie, knitting, cooking, drawing, or sewing, find a hobby and dedicate your time to it. Find something that interests you that you don’t normally have time to do and run with it. Be your most creative and expressive self because you have all the time in the world! After the week is up you will have learned or improved a new skill and will have something to show for it! (That’s way better than a tan, right?)

Go for a hike

Hopefully if the weather is nice you will take the time to explore the great outdoors. I am lucky enough to have 2 hiking reserves close to me, but if you don’t maybe make a day trip out of driving to a really cool hiking reserve. If you life in a big city where there are no trees in sight, go to a park! Take time to smell the flowers and enjoy the fresh air.

Have a photoshoot

Get together with a bunch of friends, find a cool location or make a backdrop, grab some props and have fun! Creating a photoshoot is a way to express tons of creativity and personality, plus if gives you plenty of Instagram material!

Go on a day trip

Find a museum in your area or an exhibit you want to check out. Go with your friends or your family, and make a day out of it. Find a cool place for lunch and take lots of pictures of everything you see. TimesSquareSummer_460x285

Hope you all have an excellent break!

Sephora Haul

So anyone who knows me (Sarah can attest to this) I am addicted to Sephora, and really makeup in general.  It’s such a bad addiction so I have to steer clear of that store in the mall. Over the last month or so I have some new additions to my growing makeup collection.

In very exciting news I completed my Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow collection!

Anyways back to the haul:

I recently purchased Tarte’s new Rainforest of the Sea Wipeout Color Correcting Palette.  Color correcting is a trend that has been on the rise for some time now and I decided to give it a try.  With my new beauty blender I applied a layer of foundation first followed by the green, orange, and yellow colors to different areas of my face.  Instead of buying the brush that is recommended with the palette I used by fingers to apply the colors.  I was very happy with the finishes result because it gave me an even finish and I was able to easily define the contours in my face without turning orange.

So for the past few years I have relied on using liquid liners which works most of the time but I tear up a lot so the liner gets smudged.  I decided to splurge a little bit and buy Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Waterproof Creme Color.  I was really unsure of which brush to use for the eyeliner because I have very small eyes.

My eyebrows pretty much suck and the natural shape is practically nonexistent.  I received a sample of this product last year and it worked really well.  I also purchased the brush that goes along with this palette.  How I use this product: I take the brush and go through my brows to even them out.  Then I take the darker shade on the right and outline my desired shape.  I use the lighter shade on the left to fill in the rest of my brow. This is from Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyebrow Powder

I’ve been obsessed with Prada’s Candy scent for a long time now and I decided that the rollerball size was perfect for me because I can bring anywhere with me.  It has a great scent and the rollerball gives me the perfect amount so the scent isn’t overbearing

Clinique is probably one of my favorite brands.  The formulas they use work so well for me.  I had heart great things about their new lip balm and sugar lip scrub.  So far I’ve used the lip balm but have yet to try the scrub.

Until next time!

xoxo, Sarah E.

Mini Clinique haul

Clinique is such a high quality brand, I really love all of the products that I’ve tried by them. I finally made it to the store to buy my favorite makeup remover (mentioned in Top 5 best makeup removers) and of course happy to receive a little freebee!

The lipstick is a very light nude color that makes me look kinda sickly, but I mixed it with a darker nude to get a cool ombré effect.

The little bag is so cute and summery, it’s perfect for holding a tube of lipgloss and a compact

Prom is in one month!!! This realization hit me like a truck the other day when I realized I still have so much to do. Though this is my first time going to prom, both my sisters have gone and many of my friends have too. Each family member and friend has given me many tips and tricks for preparing for prom, so I thought I’d share some with you!

I wash my face at least two times a day to keep bacteria minimal and my face feeling fresh. Now that there is a month to go I’ve started to use face masks weekly for a little something extra.

Along with your face, don’t forget about your chest and back! I hate to admit it but I tend to neglect my bacne because I can’t see it. However, my dress does expose my back so I want to feel secure with my skin showing. To help this, I exfoliate in the shower using face wash or exfoliater. Also, after every shower I rub acne remover pads on my back.

I recommend stridex or oxy

You should be doing this everyday!!! Moisturizing helps prevent wrinkles and keeps skin looking dewy and healthy. Along with your face, don’t forget about your neck! Even after a week of moisturizing your neck you see and feel the difference (I sound like an infomercial haha, but it’s true!).

Find a good lotion for your body too, after every shower moisturize your legs, arms, and wherever else you think is necessary. Your skin’s pores are more open when wet so it’s best to do this right after getting out of the shower. Once again your skin will look and feel healthier in a few days. There are so many places you can find a good lotion, find one that doesn’t weigh your skin down with the feeling of oil or scent.

Drink Water

Again, I’m really hoping this is an everyday thing for you, but if not, now is a good time to start! Water is good for your skin, your hair, and your body as a whole. A hydrated you is a happy you, so try to drink at least 2 bottles of water a day.

Stretch daily

Stretching is a great way to lightly tone your muscles and keep you feeling awake. It is a great way to relax and unwind after a long day. Take 10-15 minutes of your day to touch your toes, roll your head, and arch your back, you will feel so so much better. You can even stretch at work or school! Underneath your desk simply cross one leg over the other so your ankle is on your knee (your leg should make a triangle) and apply a little pressure. When you’re home watching TV or reading a book sit in a straddle, try to touch your toes.

Makeup and hair practice

You are going to be taking so many pictures on prom, that it’s pretty necessary that you look completely amazing from every angle. Plan out what you want your hair and make up to be before the day of and practice it! Whether you’re getting professionally done or doing you makeup yourself, you’ll want to make sure that everything looks the way you want it to. Also, make sure the products don’t cause any damage on you hair or skin, the last thing you want is a huge rash or knotty hair. If you still can’t decide what you want your hair or makeup to look like, google it! People come up with beautiful hairstyles and makeup ideas that are pretty simply.

Break in your shoes

Prom involves lots of standing for pictures, dancing, and walking around to find your lost date (well ok maybe not the last one haha). If your feet are in pain, you are going to misrible the whole night, don’t debate it, you know it’s true. While there’s no way for your 4″ platforms to feel like your fluffy bunny slippers, there are plenty of way to prevent the aches/pains/blisters. Wear your shoes everyday around your house for about 5 minutes and walk around your house. Walk up and down stairs, on carpet, on wood, on tile, on grass, on everything, you want to be prepared for anything. Your shoes will loosen up and you will be way more comfortable walking in them, also buy some clear gel orthopedics at the drugstore, they help so much! If during the night you feel a blister forming, bring little bandages just in case.

Hope these tips were helpful!

For most people, Halloween comes once a year in October; however, if you’re Jewish, you have another chance to dress up! Purim is a Jewish Holiday dedicated to celebrate the heroism of Queen Esther, who stopped the King’s advisor Haman from killing all the Jews in the land of Shushan. It’s a very fun and silly holiday that is celebrated by dressing up, telling jokes, and eating delicious cookies called hamantaschens.

My temple celebrates by hosting a carnival, which I was in charge of running this year. The holiday is really fun and great for sharing a laugh with the family.

Sarah and I decided to dress up as fortune tellers! The kimonos and headwraps are from a store called choies that I found online, and even though they had great prices, the shipping took FOREVER. I would not recommend.

I got a pinterest!

I have seen people obsessing over pinterest for a while, but I never really jumped on the bandwagon. I don’t really know why, because now I’m obsessed! My friend helped me set one up, and now i spend my extra time and all my procrastination time scrolling through boards. There is so much on pinterest, it’s a little overwhelming but it’s also really inspiring. There are so many DIYS for clothing that I want to do, with recipes I want to cook, and hairstyles to try.

Some of my favorite boards so far are “street fashion”, “I spy diy clothing inspiration” “runway fashion” “recipe diaries” “tattoo ideas” and many many more.
